Fiona Apple reportedly stormed off stage at a private Tokyo gig on Thursday night (29 August) after telling the crowd to 'shut the f**k up'.

The American singer-songwriter was performing a short set at a Louis Vuitton exhibition in the Tokyo Station Hotel when she became annoyed with the noise levels in the room.

Halfway through her set, Apple climbed on top of her grand piano and asked the audience to be quiet and even struck a small bell in an attempt to hush the crowd.

However, the singer's plea fell on deaf ears as the chatter continued adding to Apple's ever-increasing frustrations.

Apple reportedly told the fashion lovers to "Shut the f**k up," before muttering other expletives and shouting, "Predictable! Predictable fashion, what the f**k?"

According to Women's Wear Daily, the short rant wasn't the only bit of unusual behaviour from Apple as she also bumped her head on her piano microphone and performance a 'back bend' over her piano bench.

The singer and pianist's fourth studio album last year (2012) and is set to embark on a 13-date US tour in October.
