R Kelly has once again to denied allegations that he recently booked an imposter to perform a gig in his place in October of this year.
The confusion has arisen after 2,200 punters turned up to R Kelly's Black Panties promo party in Louisana after buying tickets ranging from $35 to $150 a pop. Reportedly the R'n'B singer's performance at the show designed to promote the album of the same name lasted just 10 minutes, encompassing three songs and a poem. Whoever performed (R Kelly or not) wore sunglasses, a hoodie and a cap in order to obscure his face. A gig goer recalled the song ending with the line "y'all just been fucked".
However R Kelly has said that the confusion has arisen due to an unknown party misleading ticket buyers into believing they were attending a concert, instead of a promo party. Cedric Johnson who organised the event told that Hollywood reporter that Kelly turned up and did exactly what he was supposed to do with a rep telling one tikcet buyer online:
"ITS A PARTY AND HE WILL PERFORM OLD AND NEW SONGS THE ONLY THING IS HE WONT HAVE A LIVE BAND WITH HIM THAT'S ALL YOU WILL SURELY ENJOY YOURSELF."
Talking to the Hollywood Reporter himself Kelly says that Johnson did indeed pay for an "appearance" and not a gig. "I don't know who misled or told the people [this was a concert]," he said. "I come off looking like a damn jerk, while [other] people make money."
