More about:

Shakira's racy video for her new single 'Can't Remember To Forget You' hasn't quite struck the right chord with everyone - a Colombian politician is campaigning to have the singer banned from her native country for "promoting lesbianism".

Marco Fidel Ramirez, of the Public Option party, has said Shakira is a "danger to children" in a flurry of outraged tweets sent after he presumably watched (many, many times) Shakira writhe around with Rihanna in the sexually charged video for her comeback single.

"Our Shakira with her erotic video is promoting tobacco usage and has become the worst example for our youth," he wrote. "It sends a provocative message to weak people who can be polluted and induced to practice (lesbianism)," he added, thoughtfully.

Ramirez is now petitioning to have Shakira's video banned from Colombia's National Television Authority - and to even boycott Shakira herself, who hails from the Colombian city of Barranquilla.

Shakira is yet to respond to the bonkers comments, and let's face it, probably won't. She's most likely preparing for the release of her forthcoming self titled tenth album, due out in March.
