The American Government has revealed that the CIA played songs by the Red Hot Chili Peppers on loop to torture a very, very unlucky prisoner.
Last week, the US Senate Intelligence Committee voted to begin declassifying the CIA's 6,600-page report on its "enhanced interrogation" procedures for dealing with prisoners in the period that followed 9/11, reports SPIN.
Now, an anonymous interrogator has spoken to Al Jazeera about the interrogation of a prisoner known as Zayn al-Abidin Muhammad Husayn Abu Zubaydah, who was questioned by being made to slap-bass neo-funk-rock stylings of Red Hot Chili Peppers on loop.
It is claimed that Zubaydah was handcuffed to the ceiling while the sounds of RHCP were cruelly administered as "the music used to batter the detainee's senses".
The particular RHCP songs that were used is currently unknown, but the band's 'idiosyncrasies' would certainly push the nerves of anyone is played repetetively enough.
This isn't the first time that American authorities have used music to torture prisioners, with it previously revealed that songs by Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against The Machine and even the theme tune to Barney The Dinosaur being used in 'interrogation'.
