The No.1 single, featuring Pharrell and T.I., became the anthem of summer 2013 - and has now sold over 1.53million copies since its release last May.
This means that 'Blurred Lines' has now outsold Adele's 'Someone Like You', to become the most downloaded track ever.
"I'm so honoured," said Thicke. "The success of Blurred Lines is a dream come true."

Despite the track's runaway success, it has been met with a great deal of controversy. Many have argued that the track's lyrics and video are misogynistic and promote rape culture. As a result, tens of UK universities banned the track from being played on campus.
As well as Thicke and Adele, the remaining top five most downloaded tracks of all time are 'Moves Like Jagger' by Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera, 'Somebody That I Used To Know' by Gotye and 'I Gotta Feeling' by Black Eyed Peas.
It just goes to show that there's no accounting for taste, eh?
