The Great Escape is a little overwhelming when it comes to checking out all the bands on the roster, but one of the bands that were on everyone's lips were Drowners, a New York band with a talent for energetic garage rock.
The band are incredibly conscious of the long line of artists that have influenced their career, one of which is Lou Reed, who Welsh frontman Matthew Hitt attributes to inspiring him to move to New York. After the death of the great rock icon, the band played at a tribute show alongside Dave Sitek and other musicians touched by his passing. 'Hangin' Around' was the song that they chose to perform.
Drowners self-titled debut album is out now.
