Foo Fighters have announced that they will release their new album in November 2014.

The new album is yet to be named, but the band has revealed this week in a press release that it will drop in late 2014 on Rowell Records, in conjunction with RCA. Dave Grohl recently discussed details of the album for the first time, making some big promises for the follow-up to 2011's Wasting Light album.

Grohl revealed the new information in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter - saying that the record will be eight tracks long, and be the longest Foo Fighters record to date.

The recording process, which took place in studios across the world, will be documented for a new HBO show, and this has had direct influence on the sound of the album.

"I had to take a cinematic approach.” Grohl tells the publication. "Like I couldn’t just write a three-and-a-half-minute long KROQ jingle and film it for the finale of an episode about the history of music in New Orleans, ya know? We really had to step up what we do. The music is a progression or an evolution for sure, but it’s a Foo Fighters record."

"You’ll recognize Foo Fighters in this record but you’ll also be surprised by us. We’re doing things that we’ve never done before," he continues. "Honestly, there are sections of songs that will really take you by surprise and then there are choruses that you’ll just recognize as Foo Fighters within the first three seconds."

He also revealed that he has started planning the band's next release, which would see the band try something altogether more experimental, adding: "I mean, I already know what we’re doing for the next Foo Fighters record and that’s even f—in’ crazier... I came up with this idea a month and a half ago. The guys were, like, ‘Dude, we have to finish this first.’ I know, fuck!"
