Death Row Records founder Suge Knight has pleaded not guilty after being accused of murder and attempted murder.
After making his plea at a Compton courthouse in Los Angeles yesterday (3 February), he was then taken to hospital for undisclosed medical reasons - according to KTLA.
Knight was arrested on Friday (31 January) after the red pickup truck he was driving hit two men in the car park of a fast food restaurant. The truck then drove away leaving the injured 55 and 51-year-old severly injured.
"Following an altercation on Thursday outside a Compton restaurant, Knight allegedly was driving his truck when he ran over two men standing in the parking lot," a police statement reads. "One man was injured and the second man, Terry Carter, 55, died. The driver of the pickup fled the scene."
According to the Los Angeles Times, the defense has admitted that it was Knight behind the wheel, but the incident was unintentional.
"We are confident that once the investigation is completed, he will be totally exonerated," defending lawyer James Blatt said. "He was in the process of being physically assaulted by two men and in an effort to escape he unfortunately hit two [other] individuals. He was in his car trying to escape."
