Good news for Pink Floyd fans - the prog rock legends will be releasing a brand new album, The Endless River, in October.

The band, who just released an epic 20th anniversary edition of their final 1994 album The Division Bell, may not be on the best of terms with each other - but fans can expect unheard material this year.

The news came from Polly Samson, David Gilmour's partner, who took to Twitter to reveal that the LP would consist of material from 1994 written with the late Richard Wright - who passed away in 2008:

Singer Durga McBroom-Hudson, who toured with the band through the 1980s and 1990s, then posted this photo, revealing that she features on the record:

She elaborated: "The recording did start during The Division Bell sessions (and yes, it was the side project originally titled ‘The Big Spliff’ that [Pink Floyd drummer] Nick Mason spoke about). Which is why there are Richard Wright tracks on it. But David and Nick have gone in and done a lot more since then. It was originally to be a completely instrumental recording, but I came in last December and sang on a few tracks.

"David then expanded on my backing vocals and has done a lead on at least one of them. That’s the song you see being worked on in the photo.” She also added that the album consists entirely of “unreleased songs."

Consequence of Sound claims that The Sun reports that founding member Roger Waters is not involved in the project and that the band have no plans to tour the release, which is a huge shame.
