The festival, which was only established in 2012, takes place over the weekend of 5-7 September in Welsh coastal village, Portmeirion.

Marketed as an annual art and music festival, Festival No.6 is known for its music diversity, showcasing everything from folk to techno, as well as its stunning views - views that arguably no other festival in the UK at least can match.

Below: From Latitude to Festival No.6 - The 17 most beautiful music festivals in the UK

  • Green Man - Glanusk, Wales: No, you aren't tripping - this is actually what Green Man looks like. This beautiful and intimate spot in the Black Mountains sees fans flock for poetry, art, food, culture, weirdness, the scenery and an amazing line-up - which this year features St Vincent, Hot Chip, Super Furry Animals, Goat, Jamie xx, Courtney Barnett, Father John Misty, Public Service Broadcasting, The 2 Bears and more. TAKE US THERE NOW.

  • Kendal Calling - Lake District, England: Make sure you make the long trip up North this summer to enjoy this beautiful, spacious and green event. There's a very good reason why it won Best Small Festival at the UK Festival awards and has gone from strength to strength for a decade, and it isn't just for the bands - which this year include Elbow, The Vaccines, James, Kaiser Chiefs, Snoop Dogg and loads more.

  • 2000 Trees - Cheltenham, England: Yes, there are a lot of trees down at Upcote Farm in Cheltenham. It's set in some pretty glorious countryside, but that's not the only reason they won the The Grass Roots Festival Award. It's a labour of love from a small independent team of music lovers, this year bringing you Deaf Havana, Idlewild, The Subways, The Twilight Sad, Young Guns, Pulled Apart By Horses and more.

  • Bestival - Isle Of Wight, England: Ahoy, shipmates - we're setting sail across the Solent for Bestival. Maybe it's the fact that you have to hop on a ferry to travel to an island to get there, maybe it's the party-oriented line-up, but there's a sense of escapism and mindless decadence at Bestival that can't be beat. With countless places to dance away the summer, a woodland area filled with curiosities, comedy, cinema, a burlesque tea room, a ballroom and countless other custom-built attractions and mental goings on, the Bestival's main arena can only really be compared to a miniature Glastonbury without the crush or the need to spend eight years walking from one side to the other.

  • Secret Garden Party - Huntingdon, UK: With a dance-off boxing ring, a science laboratory, an annual paint fight and er, badger shamans, Secret Garden Party is not your average festival. Set in beautiful, landscaped grounds in Cambridgeshire, Secret Garden Party is gaining a reputation as one of the wildest and greatest festivals in the UK. They say it's not about the line-up, but it's still looking great for 2014, with appearances from Jungle, The Cat Empire, Caravan Palace, Kate Tempest, Temples, Ibeyi, Say Lou Lou, Jack Garratt and more.

  • Leefest - Surrey, England: This lovely little non-profit event at Highams Hill Farm in Warlingham started as a community of 150 young people in a back garden, before growing into the 2000-strong event it is today. Our back gardens do not look like this.

  • BoomTown Fair - Winchester, England: If reggae's your bag, the festival for you is BoomTown. Described as a vibrant "mini city", Hampshire's BoomTown is a reggae-lover's heaven. The festival even has its own "districts" (Chinatown, Downtown, Wild West etc) and villages, and even a magic carpet ride! Fun. The lineup features some awesome names like Squarepusher, Goldie, Flogging Molly and Dub Pistols, it's going to be one hell of a good time.

  • Loopallu - Inverness, Scotland: Set on the actual coast of the remote Scottish village of Ullapool in West Scotland, you'd struggle to find a better place to escape to and enjoy good music (especially as the nearest town in 60 miles away). It's still a young festival, but has already played host to the likes of Paolo Nutini, Mumford & Sons, Franz Ferdinand, The Fratellis, Frightened Rabbit and Ash. We can't wait to hear what this year holds.

  • Standon Calling - Hertfordshire, England: It's set in a 16th Century Hertfordshire manor house - which is pretty wonderful, right? Right. Just as wonderful is the line-up, which this year features The Dandy Warhols, Basement Jaxx, Hercules And Love Affair, DJ Yoda, Slaves, Roots Manuva, The Antlers, Prides and more. It looks good, in every sense of the word.

  • End Of the Road - Wiltshire, England: Set in some absolutely stunning countryside in Dorset's Larmer Tree Gardens, this place boats also a cinema, woodland library, a healing retreat and loads of quirky curiosities. Oh yeah, there's a stellar lineup featuring Sufjan Stevens, Tame Impala, The War On Drugs, Future Islands, Laura Marling, My Morning Jacket, Django Django, Fat White Family and many more

  • Blissfields - Hampshire, England: Boasting a spa, a Shangri-La type immersive, audio-visual experience called The Hidden Hedge and even its own Sports Day, we can see why many return to the Hampshire festival. Head down for some beautiful scenes and awesome sounds from the likes of The Horrors, Simian Mobile Disco, John Grant, Dub Pistols and more.

  • Latitude - Suffolk, England: A lake! Beautiful woods! Theatre on the waterfront and up trees! A big fountain with cool lights! Pink sheep! What more could you ask for? How about an eclectic mix of comedy, art, poetry, dance, literature and theatre - not to mention music from the likes of Noel Gallagher, Alt-J, Portishead, Manic Street Preachers, Caribou, Django Django, James Blake, Savages, Seasick Steve, The Vaccines etc. Oh, and it's very, very dusty.

  • Y Not - Derbyshire, England: Bigger certainly doesn't mean better for this charming Pikehall event. We've been, and there's a brilliant and heartwarming sense of community in an intimate and well decorated setting (SO MUCH BUNTING). Plus, they always have a pretty solid line-up - head up this year for Basement Jaxx, Primal Scream, We Are Scientists, Slaves, Johnny Marr, Honeyblood, Indiana and more.

  • Wilderness - Oxfordshire, England: Set in Oxfordshire's exquisite Cornbury Estate, Wilderness is fast gaining a reputation for being one of the most stunning festivals in the UK. With the likes of Bjork, Ben Howard, George Clinton & Funkadelic performing, as well as a vast banquet of cultural attractions and late night adventures, there's something for everyone here.

  • Festival No 6 - Portmeirion, Wales: Why not end festival season with a weekend at a festival "that's like no other"? September's Festival No 6 indeed boasts the most spectacular festival setting we've ever seen - as well as a slew of 5 star reviews from national newspapers. It's based in a Mediterranean-style coastal village, with a background of mountains, forests and sea. Magical. There's also a stellar lineup featuring the likes of Belle & Sebastian, Grace Jones, Catfish The Bottlemen, Everything Everything, Badly Drawn Boy and plenty of cultural events to get your teeth into as well. We're tempted.

  • Somersault Festival - North Devon, England: More Downton Abbey than Donington Park, this 'five day summer camp of music, adventure and outdoor living' offers everything from surfing seaside excursions, a thing called 'a Garden Tea Party hosted by Jo Whiley' and a pretty wonderful bill that includes Laura Marling, Bombay Bicycle Club, Passenger, Jimmy Cliff, Crystal Fighters and more.
