A man has been shot five times by his best friend, while recording a rap music video in New York.

The duo were reportedley shooting a "low budget" rap video, when an argument broke out, resulting in the rapper shooting his best friend five times before pistol whipping him. As for the victim, a 37-year-old male, he is currently in hospital in critical condition having survived the violent attack. 

The Daily Mail reports that the shooting took place in a Bronx convenience store,with eye witness and owner Ali Abdul claiming the fight broke out over who was a better rapper.

"They were fighting over who's the star, who's better," Abdul said. "They were drunk. They spit at each other, then one guy pulled out a gun and shot the other guy five times."

The NYPD have however said that they aren't sure what the argument was about. They are also investigating the connection of five other men who were seen walking over the body, but haven't confirmed that they were involved. They have released a video of the incident online, in the hopes of any witnesses coming forward.
