Below: 13 unsigned acts that you need in your life

  • Fickle Friends: Brighton's Fickle Friends may not belong on this list for long, with record deals no doubt beckoning after one of the strongest introductions of 2014 so far. Sending the internet into a frenzy with 'Swim' back in the winter, their simply perfect pop music hits you in all the right places yet maintains an emotional undercurrent throughout, with slick instrumentation and simply stunning vocals resonating more and more with each new track. Say hello to your new favourite band.

  • Vitamin: With baggy tops, big sunglasses and even bigger hooks, Vitamin hit all the indie sweet spots to create something akin to The 1975, Peace and Swim Deep, yet different enough to push things forward.

  • Jude: With serene, passion drenched vocals and luxurious production, Jude are bringing something overwhelmingly exciting to the floor. The Florida-based project of Kevin James Neal and Sydney Morris, their dark, foreboding take on pop is immersive and emotionally resonant, the sound of a duo on the cusp of huge things.

  • Glacier Pacific: Another infuriatingly young band that will make you feel suitably unaccomplished, Glacier Pacific are still in their infancy as a group but already have a crisp, developed sound. Bringing together signature meandering guitar lines with instantly recognisable vocal talents and unashamedly massive melodies, this band are definitely on the rise.

  • Lacey: Pitting soaring choruses against impassioned lyrical content, Nottingham's Lacey have all the makings of the next big stadium band. They've already won over a legion of fans by supporting the likes of Patent Pending and many more - enough so that they've funded their debut album through a crowdfunding campaign and fans' passion alone. Need we say more?

  • Verite: One of the pop world's most promising prospects, Verite is a sensation waiting to happen. With some huge songs behind her and a stunning idiosyncrasy to her vocals, this New York based-prodigy is changing the indie-pop spectrum pretty damn effortlessly.

  • Beautiful Boy: With one of the most intriguing sounds on this list, Brighton's Beautiful Boy manage to create songs that are raw and affecting, yet equally polished in their production. Ridiculously anthemic and bleeding emotional intensity, these guys are doing something different within folky boundaries which is overwhelmingly refreshing.

  • Tenterhook: With a voice that immediately draws comparisons to Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, Archie Faulks' success as Tenterhook was always going to be on the cards. Creating quite a stir on the blogs with his debut track 'Stereo' earlier this year, the effortlessly developed sound of Tenterhook is something to truly be admired.

  • F.U.R.S: Creating glamorous, seductive indie pop, we're pretty surprised that F.U.R.S aren't already massive by now. Seemingly developing with each new single, this trio have managed to find the perfect balance between atmospheric build up and sheer optimistic release. Dreamy stuff all round.

  • Gallant: With a liquid smooth falsetto, perfectly crafted aesthetic and slick production behind him, Gallant is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with. Fans of The Weeknd and Frank Ocean, get on board.

  • Tropic of Youth: Embodying the DIY aesthetic, Tropic of Youth have complete control over everything they do (down to their mums making their merch) which gives their sound a gloriously homegrown quality. Producing sharp, calculated indie pop that draws inspiration from previously unexplored places, their debut EP is without a doubt one of this year’s strongest releases.

  • Goodbye Chanel: Building layer upon layer of gloriously immersive instrumentation to create something entirely engrossing, Goodbye Chanel already have their signature sound perfected, and what they've released so far is unbelievably exciting. Bringing together a broad range of styles, each song brings a sense of intricacy to the floor whilst equally sounding massive, a rare style to achieve that works effortlessly well.

  • Rude: Operating under a completely mysterious persona, any conclusions on Rude have to be drawn from the music alone. Thankfully, what has been released so far is truly exciting, pushing the electronic boundaries atop approachable dance foundations. This is late night electronica at its most raw, and boy is it great.
