According to insider reports, the recording of the new Tool album is 'progressing nicely'.
As we all know, the follow up to 10,000 Days has been a rather long time in the making (eight years to be exact), due in part to extensive legal battles that are costing the band "millions and millions and millions".
They are back in the studio however, and it looks like things are moving along well. According to Tool's webmaster, things are "progressing nicely", to which he added King Crimson percussionist Pat Mastello is contributing to the recording sessions.
“Good friend and King Crimson percussionist Pat Mastelotto stopped by the Tool loft the other day to listen to the guys working on new material,” he posted. “Since the recent sound-proofing renovation, I’m told that the writing/arranging sessions have been progressing rather nicely (welcome news for those waiting for a new record).”

In other Tool related new, Adam Jones posted a photo from inside the studio which shows the time signature breakdowns of a track along with the hashtag “#SmokeOnTheHorizon”. Fans have since speculated this may be a reference to Deep Purple's 'Smoke On The Water'.

If these reports are to be believed then fans could potentially look forward to a 2015 release for the new record. Although with Tool you never know, so it's probably best not to jinx it.
