Ceelo Green, who earlier this year tried to redefine the terms of sexual abuse on Twitter, has defended Bill Cosby over rape allegations.

Speaking to TMZ, the former The Voice coach explained that "it doesn't seem fair" that Cosby's silence on the trial is being interpreted as an admission of guilt.

He said: "But you can't defend yourself in that capacity, you know what I'm sayin'? You just have to let facts be facts, and so on and so forth ... none of this seems fair. It's just unfortunate because he's so beloved to so many people.".

Earlier this year, Green pleaded no contest to ecstasy possession and was also accused of having sex with a woman after "furnishing" her with ecstasy. He subsequently took to Twitter to define rape.

"People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!"

"If someone is passed out they're not even WITH you consciously! so WITH Implies consent,"

The singer has since apologised for the comments, which he describes as "idiotic, untrue and not what I believe."

Green pleaded no contest in August after allegedly slipping MDMA into a woman's drink and engaging in sexual activity without consent.
