Dollywood, the Tennessee theme park co-owned by Dolly Parton, is being sued after a woman fell headfirst off one of the rides.
Tedi A Brown was riding the Waltzing Swinger in December 2013 when, according to the lawsuit, she fell ten feet and attained brain injuries.
When the ride is complete, the chairs come to a stop about 10 feet above the ground. When this occurred, Brown thought the ride was over and lifted her lap bar to exit her seat. Due to rain and sleet making the ride "dangerously slick", and a lack of lock mechanisms to restrain riders, Brown lost her grip and fell headfirst onto the pavement. She suffered spine and neck injuries, torn ligaments, a broken jaw and brain damage, the suit claims.
As NME reports, a spokesperson for Dollwood has said: "Out of respect for the process and as a matter of practice, Dollywood does not comment on pending litigation. We look forward to this issue being resolved and anticipate commenting at that time."
The Browns are seeking $475,000 in damages, along with litigation costs.
