Their performance was more than just a slice of pop-punk nostalgia

26 August, 2015: Here's the thing about many 90s punk bands, at this point most of them are just cashing in on nostalgia. The Offspring have always been well renowned for their witty lyrics and axe-grinding riffs but more than that, their uncompromising live show. They remain as powerful now as ever.
Last night's show at the O2 Academy, Brixton was totally evidential of this fact. Many of the fans had grown up with the seminal 1994 record, Smash but never got the chance to witness the California punks live. For them, last night wasn't just a trip down memory-lane but rather an awesome and visceral experience a long time coming.
