The world has seen yet another legend pass away after hearing of the tragic loss of The Eagles' Glenn Frey.

Frey was one of the founding members of The Eagles, who co-wrote and sang on most of their hits including 'Hotel California', 'Desperado', and 'Take It Easy' to name a few. The Eagles earned six Grammy's, sold over 150 million records and had six No.1 albums. They are one of the best selling bands of alll time for a reason. They were simply genius songwriters and musicians who wrote some of the most definitive anthems of a generation.

Their influence since their formation in 1971 has been far reaching into all musical genres. In particular, the world's best guitarists developed their styles from them and Frey's style earned him a huge amount of respect among the best. But pop musician's such as Justin Timberlake and EDM pioneers, Daft Punk also cite them as key.

You can continue to explore the diversity of who the Eagles had an influence here.

  • Paul Stanley: In his tribute to Frey on Twitter, The KISS man acknowledges Frey as a brilliant songwriter. He also said in an interview with Radio.com that "You can't deny that these guys have written the American songbook."

  • Daft Punk: Their seminal and latest album, Random Access Memories, was influenced by The Eagles. Producer Todd Edwards who worked on the album said that. "Thomas [Bangalter] was talking about picking up this West Coast vibe. At first I didn't know what he meant... They were saying [about] going back to time of Fleetwood Mac, The Doobie Brothers, The Eagles, just picking up that West Coast vibe."

  • Dave Navarro: "The Eagles helped shape my understanding of music when I was growing up," he tweeted yesterday. Navarro, in turn, influenced another generation of rock musicians after playing with Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Jane's Addiction.

  • Justin Timberlake: On his biography it says his Dad, Randy, exposed Justin to musical genius of Eagles and Justin is known to have later cited them as a key influence. Also he said: "My Mom used to play Eagles records for me on my way to grade school. We lost one of the greatest songwriters ever today... #RIPGlennFrey."

  • Meat Loaf: Todd Rungdren who was the producer of Meat Loaf's biggest hit, 'Bat Out Of Hell', identified that the Eagles' soft rock approach influenced the track. He also wrote on Facebook expressing his sadness and said: " Eagles released my favourite album of all time, Hotel California."

  • Zakk Wylde: Frey's guitar strength was never overlooked, and it ended up being key to Zakk Wylde's love of the instrument: "GOD BLESS GLENN FREY" he said last night. The Black Label Society leader was listening to The Eagles as a kid in his New Jersey home.

  • Slash: Metal Hammer reported that one of Slash's fifth favourite ever guitar riff is the one on 'Life In The Fast Lane' by Eagles.

  • Niall Horan (One Direction): Love them or loathe them, One Directon's Niall Horan cited Eagles as his main musical influence: "My favourite band of all time is Eagles. They've influenced me in the stuff I listen to now and the way I write."

  • Okkervil River: Will Sheff of Okkervil River said, "So saddened and shocked by the loss of Glenn Frey. Thank you for the music that paved the way for so many others." Sheff famously covered the Eagles song The End Of The Innocence" and changed some of the lyrics and released it for free. It caused a dispute with other key Eagle, Don Henley. But for Sheff it was just about expressing his love for a song that means a lot to him.

  • Nikki Sixx: "Thank you for all the great songs and powerful lyrics. Jesus, can the reaper please take a break off a while?," he tweeted. Indeed it's a been a tragic few weeks.

  • Ryan Adams: His musical style owes a lot to Eagles, and his closeness was articulated in his tweet about the death of Frey: "Travel to the stars safely," he said.
