As the countdown to the arrival of Fifa 2012 continues, Gigwise thought it was time to look at the best computer football games ever.
While games genres have a tendency to come and go - the beat 'em up's have evolved, role playing games are few and far between, and it's been years since there was a decent flying simulation - the football simulation has remained a constant for the past 30 years.
We've played them all. Peter Shilton's Handball Maradona, Kenny Dalglish Soccer, Nintendo World Cup... we've done it all. Oh, and PES 4, CM2, and Fifa 10, of course, but where's the fun in those games?
In honour of the beautiful game, we've decided to take a look back at this beloved genre, and decide for ourselves which games deserve to be in the top ten. Take a look and let us know your favourites.
