One of the most essential parts of being in a band is touring, and putting on a show that will make your fans want to come back again and again. Over the years there have been some mammoth tours that have taken in mind boggling amounts of money.

There have also been tours that have gone on for so long that it seems bands have taken over the world with incidents from the gigs hitting headlines over the years they take place.

It was reported earlier this year that Lady Gaga is to embark on the biggest ever tour for a musician with 450 dates across the world (now clearly untrue), we have created a countdown of the longest ever world tours.

With The Rolling Stones featuring twice, U2 and Cher all on the list. Touring continually since 7 June 1988, there is one man who is still on his ‘Never Ending Tour’ tour.

Click through to see the biggest names in music and their lengthy tour commitments.
