Britney Spears has proven herself a success in her new role on US X Factor, but behind the scenes her personal life is in turmoil, with sources claiming she is still controlled by her family and manager.
After the star's well-publicised breakdown in 2008, Spears access to the internet and even a mobile phone were taken from her. Now, four years later it is claimed that she is still kept on a tight leash by her father and manager / fiance Jason Trawick. It is claimed the star is kept from accessing information so as to avoid seeing any negative press. There are also concerns that access to a private mobile phone would allow former manager Sam Lufti to get in contact with her.
"Britney's cell phone and internet use is restricted and heavily monitored, and this is done for her protection," says a source to US gossip website, Radar Online. "Britney's father Jamie and her fiance Jason want to make sure that her former manager, Sam Lutfi, isn't able to contact her. Britney and Jason essentially share a cell phone, and it's routinely checked to see who has been calling."
The source claims that the star is kept under such strict control for her own good, adding: "Her family doesn't want Britney reading negative stories that would upset her. Again, this is all done with love and for her well-being."
Britney Spears is currently judging the second series of X Factor in the USA. Jason Trawick is seen by Britney's side during most of the filming.
