‘The Mother We Share’ by Chvrches has won the Popjustice £20 Prize after being voted the best British pop single of the last twelve months.

The Popjustice prize is designed as a light-hearted alternative to the Mercury Prize - described as the site as 'a democratic shouting match held in east London'.

Making the announement, Popjustice said: "We could go into detail but everyone’s quite drunk. The point is that a great pop single has been recognised as such. Twenty pounds (cash) will be on its way to Chvrches in due course."

Good choice, Popjustice - we're rather inclined to agree.
