Adele: If there's one album that's over-anticipated at the moment, then it's Adele's third record. With her last effort clocking up a frankly ridiculous number of sales there's no denying she's become a figurehead in the British music industry in the last few years. After teasing a new release on her 25th birthday earlier this year, we think a new album could be in the works very soon. Could she 'do a Beyonce' and drop it by surprise?
Madonna: Now would seem for the right time for Madonna to return with a new record, with two years since MDNA was released. Diplo recently revealed he had been working with the legendary singer, whilst leaked lyrics reportedly hitting out at Lady Gaga also surfaced last month, signs which both point to forthcoming new material from the iconic pop star.
Frank Ocean: Rumours around Frank Ocean's follow up to the critically acclaimed Channel Orange have been building for a while now, and the news that he recently fired his entire management and PR team would suggest that he's closing in on a release date. Just give us that new release already Frank!
Muse: It was revealed Muse had returned to Air Studios in London last week to 'rehearse' something - whether new material or something for that elusive 20th anniversary tour remains unclear. Matt Bellamy recently promised fans on Twitter that things were "gonna get heavy". Whatever direction they choose to take, we're sure it'll be pretty special.
Blur: In perhaps one of the most confusing pieces of music news so far this year, Blur reportedly cancelled sessions in a Hong Kong studio earlier this year because it was too hot, which led Damon Albarn to claim their eighth album "might never come out". We're still holding out hope for a new release though, and now Albarn's got his latest solo record out of the way they'll no doubt have time to start work again on the album (fingers crossed anyway)
The Cure: In a blog post on the band's official website earlier this year, Robert Smith detailed that The Cure originally intended 4:13 Dream to be a double album, rather than the mere 13 track release it actually ended up being. With 14 unreleased tracks from that period recorded, the frontman then expressed plans to release them at some point later this year as a completely new record. Details have yet to be officially announced, but still, it's pretty damn exciting.
Kanye West: Despite titled like 'Piss On Your Grave' being slightly disconcerting, the buzz around a swift follow up from Yeezus is slowly building. With more and more snippets seemingly leaking onto the web every week, a new record from Yeezy could be released sooner than we think.
Friendly Fires: Ed MacFarlane and co haven't released any new music since 2011's Pala. It was a fine record, but failed to make the impression of their self-titled debut. MacFarlane told NME in 2012 that writing was underway on their third record, hinting at a slightly worrying 'psychedelic' direction. Either way, it's been two years since - so something, even a promised 'eight-minute long jam', must be ready for us soon?
The Strokes: Julian Casablancas' forthcoming solo record would indicate that a new album from The Strokes won't be released just yet, however guitarist Albert Hammond JR has repeatedly hinted at the band's aims to head into the studio again ASAP. Let's just hope we don't have to wait a few years again.
Jai Paul: One of last year's most confusing releases, Jai Paul's leaked album was a thing of beauty, acclaimed by critics across the board, until the illusive producer revealed that was an unfinished version and not the proper record. Weirdly enough no new material has surfaced from Paul since, despite the leaked version sounding incredibly close to completion. News has been remarkably quiet from him as of late, so fingers crossed another surprise release happens before the year's out.
Fleetwood Mac: Earlier in the year Fleetwood Mac detailed plans to work on a new record with Christine McVie, after it was revealed she had rejoined the legendary group. With rumours circling of festival appearances and live shows next year, this might just be the perfect time for that new material to see a release.
Florence and the Machine: I think we're all in agreement when we say Florence has been away for far too long, and her return to the stage is no doubt imminent. Back in June Welch revealed she had been hiding herself away in the studio for "24 hours a day" working on long-awaited third record, so we're sure we'll see the fruits of her labour pretty soon - definitely in time for festival season 2015 anyway.
Kendrick Lamar: One of the strongest rap records of all time, Kendrick Lamar's Good Kid M.A.A.D City was a thing of beauty, which makes the anticipation for his third album truly incredible. Kendrick revealed earlier in the summer that he had recorded 30 to 40 songs for his new record, and planned to release it later this year. Needless to say, we're hyped
The Maccabees: A band that have epitomised the importance of developing your sound with each release, The Maccabees have transcended their indie roots in recent years to become one of the most important British bands of the last decade. 2012's Given To The Wild was no doubt a career highlight for the group, and it feels like far too long since they released new material. With a support slot on Kasabian's tour in November, the group also confirmed they are deep into work on their fourth album, can we expect new material debuted live?
Massive Attack: In an exclusive interview with Gigwise at Glastonbury 2014, 3D revealed that Massive Attack were sitting on an entire album's worth of material that they had no idea what to do with just yet. With the frontman confirming a collaboration with Tricky as well, we're sure this new material (when it does eventually surface) is gonna be pretty special.
Marina and the Diamonds: Slowly revealing snippets of new material on instagram, 2014 may just usher in the return of Marina and the Diamonds. With Electra Heart providing a stark contrast to her debut The Family Jewels, we have no idea what to expect from Marina's third album, and that excites us.
Rihanna: An artist that has become synonymous with releasing an album every year, it feels long overdue for Rihanna to drop a new record. Producer Yung Berg recently revealed he was working with the singer on an upcoming record, which would suggest we can expect new material soon.
