Who are we really talking to on Twitter? Well the answer is often yourself. While your followers may see, retweet, or favourite your comments in passing, the real conversation is a subjective one. As such, it's easy to get carried away... and even easier to put your foot in it, or maybe just say something absolutely ridiculous.
Musicians tend to help curate their public persona through Twitter, whether that is a) being an utter bastard or b) "connecting" with your fans. It is always impossible however, not to let the real skeletons out of the closet every now and again. Some of these tweets have clearly been written (or confirmed to have been written), after a hefty session in the pub - while others simply defy any explanation.
