More about: The Weeknd
"Make some noise for one of the greatest acts of all time," says Radio 1Xtra DJ Tim Westwood, introducing the appropriately named final headliner of the weekend: The Weeknd.
As the crowd gets busier and the lighting rig drops to the front of the stage - only to be lifted up slowly to the sound of a cinematic, sci-fi-sounding introduction - the ever-enigmatic Abel Tesfaye – aka The Weeknd - walks onstage dressed in black, white trainers and a bright orange jacket.

As he launches into 'Starboy', pyrotechnics shoot above the Canadian artist's head as the crowd bounces and sings along to every familiar lyric. Next comes an underrated highlight from the new album, Starboy, the darker and trippier 'Party Monster', allowing Abel to properly show off his unmatchable falsetto whilst smoke machines blast overhead.
Blood red and flame coloured strobes flood the stage during 'Reminder' as Abel owns the stage effortlessly, backed by his faultless guitarist, drummer and bassist.
Softening the mood with a sun-kissed backdrop during 'Die For You', Abel wears his heart on his sleeve, singing into the eyes of a girl on the front row, before crooning, "London, UK, you know I'd die for you". He's probably said that a lot of the places he’s visited this year, but it's no less charming.
A throwback to one of his breakthrough tracks, 'Wicked Games', comes next, complete with a riff-heavy instrumental.
"London, you sound so beautiful tonight," he gushes, leading into his Fifty Shades of Grey-soundtracking anthem 'Earned It', as the performance and crowd are shown in black and white on the big screen, adding a touch of class and style to the show.
There's not much more to his set than a succession of late-night bedroom jams, but when they're as seductive and spellbinding as the Ty Dolla Sign-collaboration 'Or Nah' - and with a voice that resembles a young Michael Jackson - what more does he need, really?
'Into The Night' comes after he's declared the performance as "the biggest party in the UK right now" - and who could argue with him? As he teases the hip-shaking, grooving 'Rockin', it feels like the party's really getting started, before Abel gets the crowd involved in trying out his incomparable vocal highs.
"Can I do a few more songs before I leave?" He needn't have asked. A hand-clapping rendition of 'Secrets' flows effortlessly into one of his biggest chart hits, 'Can't Feel My Face' - full of funky guitars and an instantly recognisable chorus.
As Gigwise leaves Wireless to the sound of 'I Feel It Coming', we have to turn back as fireworks colour the sky for the weekend - and The Weeknd's grand finale of 'The Hills'.
"The Princes, the Bowies - he's the only pop star right now that has that," Gigwise's friend gushes about the performance she's been most exited for all weekend. And it's hard to disagree: The Weeknd is like no other artist in the world.
