Opening with her staple single release of last year ‘Figure it Out’, TikTok star and bassist Blu DeTiger introduces her debut EP of the same name. Off the bat, it's a playful, bass-heavy tune, welcomed with melodic harmonies and addictive ad-libs. Stomping all the way from The Big Apple, DeTiger's How Did We Get Here is a joyous concoction of seven fruity bops.  

Funk-infused, with speckles of indie, in this piece we get to enjoy the artist explore a warped sound, matched with badass narratives and quirky song titles. We're not sure how, but How Did We Get Here gives the exact same serotonin of chewing a strawberry hubba bubba, and creating this really, really big, bubble gum without it popping. 

Gentle keys with an infectious bass riddle ‘disco banger but you’re crying in the bathroom’ is honestly fucking perfect. But before we cry about the anticipation of the UK actually having a ‘normal’ summer this year, can we just dissect how Blu DeTiger has managed to create a title so fitting to this fun interlude. ‘disco banger but you’re crying in the bathroom' is riddled with technicoloured key work and yes of course, funk-infused bass patterns, giving you the nostalgia of disco and freedom of dancing with friends.

The last thirteen months have been extremely tough and strange, but with summer seeming to be in sight this year, we can’t exaggerate enough just how much How Did We Get Here is going to be the soundtrack for a lot of people. We follow DeTiger as she blurs these ‘norms’ in to-die-for outfits, and really fucking good bass playing. 

Penultimate track ‘Cotton Candy Lemonade’ is a psych, nonchalant tune, stringing you into a daze as you follow her vocals: “I wanna get lost with you, cause right now I’m lost without you too.” 

Concluding the album with a short, videoed interview, the musician dissects the story-line behind 'Vintage.’ "In this song I’m saying no, the girls the main character, I just need the guy to be my arm candy, or the main accessory.” Another narrative I’m sure a lot of us can get behind: hot girl summer here we come. 

In How Did We Get Here, DeTiger has put her multi-instrumentalist title to work, and all that she can offer on a silver plate.  Thank – you for dropping such an amazing debut EP...we’re all obsessed with you.
