“This is a big one for me,” beams Katy J Pearson as her eyes scan the crowd of a packed-out Electric Ballroom. Young and old have come together to see her play - and as she launches into fan favourite ‘Take Back The Radio’ we know we’re in for a good night.

Having risen through the ranks in various bands and projects throughout the years, Pearson has earned every moment as she takes in the palpable excitement in the room. With a cool and collected attitude, she leads her impressive backup band complete with trumpet, saxophone, and flute. Brass and vocals mix in gorgeous harmony as Pearson’s distinctive lilt fills the venue.

Serenading the audience with hits like ‘Miracle’ and ‘Howl’, her performance is nothing short of pitch-perfect. Much loved tracks like ‘Fix Me Up’ and ‘Tonight’ have the crowd singing along to every word as Pearson and band deliver a beautifully emotive set that’s also jam-packed full of energy.

Grittier tracks like ‘Alligator’ and ‘Confession’ stand out, sounding every bit as captivating as their more soothing counterparts. Gripping the audience at every move, the band prove they can shift the mood and build excitement throughout the set, keeping their sound fresh as track after track not one of them sets a foot wrong.

From her distinctive voice to her undeniable charm, Katy J Pearson is one of a kind. Ending out the night with a cover of The B-52’s ‘Roam’, Pearson smiles, “This song has made us so happy this tour - and we hope that it will make you happy too”. From start to finish, it’s been a joy to see a truly faultless performance from an act at the very top of her game.
