While She Sleeps came to widespread attention after their support slot on the Kerrang 2012 tour, boosting their loyal fan following.

The album might not be everyone’s cup of tea – especially if you’re not a fan of hardcore scream-o style music. However, it’s definitely a treat for those who are.

This Is Six opens with 'Be(lie)ve', a song with a great, consistent rhythm throughout - the techy bit at the beginning really builds the intro to a peak. In fact, the musical intros is a common theme for the beginning of every song throughout the album. 'Dead Behind The Eyes', however, starts with a heavy, solid, rhythmic intro.

The use of piano intros is common across the entire album, especially in tracks 'Our Courage', 'Our Cancer' and 'Reunite'. These hopeful tracks allow for a break while playing their part as interludes to the other strong sounding songs.

Overall the style of the album is like a heavier, hardcore version of a Bullet For My Valentine album. 'Reunite' is definitely a song which proves that a band such as While She Sleeps is capable of many different sounds, thus it’d be foolish to pigeon hole them to simply hardcore alone.

For those who want to try a very different sound from the usual lighter, commercial music, this album is a nice strong, yet fluid transition. There’s still rhythm, instrumentals and vocals you can understand. The only difference is, you can hear the adrenaline in the atmosphere they produce through their music. The fact that this band originates from Sheffield definitely proves that Britain’s hardcore music scene is still very much alive.
