In 2008 into 2009, Dido was a prime example and proud ambassador for British music both on home turf and worldwide shores, and helped paved the way for many of the successful British female artists that we have today.
Her latest album Girl Who Got Away has been several years in the making, which is a very long time for fans and critics to wait and both want to know, has this wait been worth it and will Dido retain her spot amongst Britain’s finest female talents?
Her latest single ‘Let Us Move On’ featuring Dr Dre’s latest bright star Kendrick Lamar was a particularly good move to bring her back into the spotlight, considering it was thanks to the contribution from his most successful protégé to date Eminem that really helped push her name out into the charts and the deserving success that followed shortly after.
Classic Dido fans will really enjoy tracks such as 'Girl Who Got Away' and 'Sitting On The Roof Of The World', where her soothing voice sees through the melodies effortlessly and shows that time has certainly not damaged her talent.
Songs like 'Blackbird' and 'End of Night' however could bring a whole new generation of admirers and certainly interest followers of acts like Alex Clare to Dido’s fanbase with the mixture up-tempo electronic beats and has opened up a new direction of sound that Dido should definitely continue down on to progress as an artist of her calibre
It was little doubt for many that Dido’s return would be merely a ripple in the pond of mainstream pop music. Dido has answered her critics well with Girl Who Got Away and it’s sure to please both old and new fans for a while to come.
