This is the title track of Cat Powers The Greatest album which was released early last year to pretty much universally acclaim. Nominated for Best International Female at this years Brits, Cat Power heads a list of blues tinged female folk singers such as Kathryn Williams and Joan As Policewoman who you feel will never quite make the mark on the mainstream that their music deserves.
The Greatest opens with piano over a climbing string section before the sultry, lazy and enchanting vocals of Chan Marshall ease their way in. With the backing of Al Greens Memphis Rhythm Band you will struggle to find a reason to not like this track, regardless of your musical taste, such is its quality.
