The View – 'The Don’ (1965) Released 23/04/07
The ubiquitous, ridiculously catchy top three smash ‘Same Jeans’ must be a difficult single to follow. And so The View offer a change of pace with their fourth single ‘The Don’. Compared to previous hits it’s something of a slow burner: a jingly-jangly number that features a nice bit of tambourine and jaunty rhythms. Kyle Falconer meanwhile sings in hushed tones of “poems of poverty”. It’s decent effort but does somewhat lack the punch of previous glories such as the aforementioned ‘Same Jeans’ and their searing debut ‘Wasted Little DJs’.
