A summer treat from The Maccabees. Everyone’s favourite new band have delivered another piece of sugar coated pop music that will have the plaudits chomping at the bit and the realists wondering how long before the bubble will burst for the Maccabees. A good song yes, but damn sickly. It’s not edgy or new. But like so many of the new bands, it’s not pretentious, and that is far more important. Frenetic guitars, jagged drumming interspersed with lovely little arpeggios on a clean tone fender. Yes, we have heard it all before and we will hear it all again but not with this much honesty. If you are at the festivals this summer, watch out for these boys.

  • I saw The Maccabees on the 19th April 07 @ The Old Market venue in Brighton. It was a good gig but I felt that the lead singer was very wary as some of the crowd were going at bit mental, (no doubt this is due to the fact they’ve been band from playing @ Concord 2 for a year because of trouble from fans.) But putting that aside they are my best band of the year so far. Can someone tell me why they haven’t included the track ’Colour it in’ on there debut album.
