The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster - 'In The Garden'

starstarstarstarno star
The Eighties Matchbox have always enjoyed the status of being that little bit different to the other bands. Their success has been limited and yet their reputation has remained untarnished and now they are coming back for another strike on the UK scene. ‘In the Garden’ is a punk-enthused, bass driven snarler clocking in just over 2 and a half minutes. Guy McKnight sounds confident and inspired delivering his white hot lyrics. On ‘The Fever’ he sounds like a mix between Elvis and Serj Tankian while trying to control an intense macabre bassline. There is plenty here to inspire fans again and unlike the copycat Horrors clearly the Eighties Matchbox boys have focused more on their music than image in their time away.

Released 30/07/07 on MCA Records.

  • ”On ’The Fever’ he sounds like a mix between Elvis and Serj Tankian while trying to control an intense macabre bassline.” What does this mean? It means nothing.

  • its on degenerate music / no death not mca records.... and I reckon that’s a pretty good description of what he does on ”The Fever”, here’s what it means... ”Elvis resurfacing as barker and spinner on an out-of-control fairground ride soundtracked by busted speakers cranking sisters of mercy at full blast.”
