We Are Scientists - 'After Hours'

starstarstarhalf starno star

Much like the new Panic At The Disco effort, We Are Scientists have returned to the public eye with a song that at first appears underwhelming and a bit flat. However, given a number of spins, ‘After Hours’ reveals itself to be in possession of more charm and sustainability than much of We Are Scientists previous material.

Seemingly unable to write a song that isn’t about drinking singer Keith Murray has clearly spent that past 18 months touring the world’s music venues and more importantly the bars and night-clubs too. ‘After Hours’ is a musical quest to finding a bar with a late license and convincing an acquaintance to stay drinking into the wee hours. Gone are the speedy riffs and pounding drums substituted for twiddly guitars and an almost camp fire mentality to melody. It all bodes well for a more rounded and diverse second album from the drunkest most fun band in the world.

Released 03/03/08 on Virgin.
