65daysofstatic - 'The Distant And Mechanised Glow Of Eastern European Dance Parties'

Lock the doors, close the windows, draw the curtains and succumb to the misguided schizophrenic pleasure of the fantastically titled new ep from 65daysofstatic - ‘The Distant And Mechanised Glow Of Eastern European Dance Parties’. As titles go, it’s a fucking blinder and the ep itself is pretty damn good as well, the fearless pioneering imagination of the band firmly attacking popular culture and proving that there’s more than one sound coming out of Sheffield.

Starting with the hypnotically mesmerising and challenging ‘Dance Parties [Distant]’, rules aren’t broken, but quickly enforced and discarded at will as the track infiltrates every level of your waking consciousness. The remaining three tracks that make up the rest of the ep, ‘Dance Parties [Mechanised]’, ‘Goodbye, 2007’ and ‘Antique Hyper Mall’ are spawned from the opener and beautifully blur the confused destruction of an ever present hangover. Once again, 65daysofstatic have fashioned a place for themselves within their own genre and as a result are untouchable, and if you need any advice after listening to the ep, talk to Frank.

Released 07/04/08 on Montreme.
