As winter starts to take hold, we found ourselves drawn to the darkened beauty of The Twilight Sad, and eagerly await the release of their new album later this month. To celebrate, we asked them to perform a stripped-back version of magnificent new track 'It Never Was The Same'.

"It's one of my favourite songs from the record," says singer James Graham of 'It Never Was The Same'. "The first time people are going to hear the song will be an acoustic, stripped-back kinda version and I think it really works that way, but it works as a pretty big song on the record too. It will be nice to introduce them to it in that kind of way."

If hearing it in this form is anything to judge by, then 'It Never Was The Same' could well be the chilling, tender centre-piece of their new album - an album that's shaping up to be one of their finest, and hopefully the one that will reach the vast audience The Twilight Sad deserve.

The Twilight Sad release Nobody Wants To Be Here And Nobody Wants To Leave on 27 October.
