President Barack Obama: Songs To Celebrate A New Dawn
Barack Obama – heard of him? Well, he's just become the first African-American to be elected President of the United States of America. After two years of campaigning, the Illinois senator proved yesterday that Americans really do believe in his message of “change”. (Well, enough did to elect him president, anyway.)
As you'll no doubt have read on Gigwise over the course of the campaign, the Democrat's presidential bid received widespread support from musicians of every genre, religion and colour – all of them optimistic that he can transform America, and, if we're really lucky, the world.
But as Obama pointed out in his victory speech, his real challenge has yet to begin. His supporters will only stay loyal if his campaign promises turn into presidential policies after his inauguration next January.
Let's not get too despondent just yet though, to quote John McCain, my friends. Let us embrace this moment. And what better way than to select a nice, iPod friendly compilation of ten songs to welcome the new dawn.
Our playlist features songs by prominent Obama supporters from recent months. Who and what would make yours? Post them in the comment form below...
- The Times They Are a-Changin - Bob Dylan
- Kanye West - All Falls Down
- The bitch in the McCain song has to be Palin!!
- Super Furry Animals - Presidential Suite
- Green Day - American Idiot
