The BRIT Awards took place last night (25 February) and, despite our plea for some left-field decisions, it was a night of predictable winners. But what did some of Gigwise's favourite artists get up to?
Annie Clark, AKA St. Vincent, fresh from a fairly awkward BBC Breakfast interview (during which Bill Turnbull made it abundantly clear how little he knew about her by introducing her song as 'Digital Wireless'), was one of the last to arrive on the red carpet.
Though, predictably, she lost out in the Best International Solo Artist category to Taylor Swift, she probably consoled herself with the memory of being Gigwise's Album of 2014. That, and by having Cara Delevingne stroke her hair:
The War On Drugs, who produced one of the best albums of last year in the form of Lost In The Dream, went home empty-handed, but it didn't prevent them from expressing their fondness for the UK. "I love it, it's always been like that over here for some reason. Since the first record there's been a lot of really warm reception from people. We played Brixton last night which was really special. Over here - we played in Southampton too, the beautiful Guildhall - it's been pretty consistent for the places being really nice. Which is really cool."

After tweeting about her failure to get into G-A-Y the night before, British Female Solo Artist nominee spent the evening with her boyfriend Robert Pattinson. We would have loved to have seen a performance from her on the night, but that was just too big an ask.
Chvrches, who are responsible for Gigwise's Album of 2013, were beaten out to British Breakthough Act by the unstoppable Sam Smith. It's just as well really - it's a little late to the party to describe them as "breakthroughs" when their albums been out for two years. Lauren Mayberry did pull one of the best faces of the night though.
They also stuck around for a while after the ceremony had finished and posed for pictures with fans like this one.
As for our other favourite unsuccessful nominees - First Aid Kit, The Black Keys, Jack White, Beck... They all chose, probably wisely, not to even bother coming.
