The Stereophonics may be a band in their autumn years, but that hasn't stopped them taking the top spot in this weeks album charts. They've beaten Bring Me the Horizon, who have to settle for second place.
In a top five that features predominantly well established artists, like Duran Duran and the freshly rebooted Libertines, the Welsh band have proved their enduring appeal with a number one slot for Keep the Village Alive.
“I love this band," Stereophonics frontman told the Official Charts Company. "To have got to Number 1 on our own record label is amazing! Twenty years in fans old and new have got us to the top! We love ya! Thank You All. Keep YOUR Village Alive”.
The only real fresh blood on show in the top five is Jess Glynne with her former No.1 I Cry When I Laugh.

Also in contention were The Libertines, who can approach their recently announced arena tour with a fourthth UK top 40 album to their names.
Low's Ones and Sixes also appears in the charts at No.37, and Beriut just manage to scrape into the top 40 with No No No, their first album in four years.
The battle for the top spot was closely fought, with Sterophonics just 1300 combined chart sales ahead of Bring me the Horizon's That's The Spirit. The band are about to embark on a large scale arena tour of the UK in December, including shows at Cardiff Motorpoint Arena and the London O2 Arena.
