Ahead of a packed festival season and the release of their major label debut LP Are You Satisfied, Slaves sat down with Gigwise to discuss how fame is treating them.
Following their incendiary live performances - as well as support slots with Palma Violets and appearances on Later... with Jools Holland - Laurie Vincent and Issac Holman have found their music surfacing in all sorts of strange places. This came to a head when one track soundtracked ITV2's "really dodgy" survival horror series 'Release The Hounds'. "'Hey' came on during that and it was just surreal" says Vincent. "I've heard we've been on Geordie Shore as well but I haven't actually seen it!"

In their interview the pair also discuss what they're hoping to achieve with their second album and how it's developed from 2012's Sugar Coated Bitter Truth. "We're just not making that first record again - a lot of people make that mistake in music" says Vincent. "We're not pigeonholing ourselves."
Changes have occured following their move to a major. "What informed it was getting signed and that experience and being in a practice room rather than making milkshakes and doing our day jobs." They also want this album to capture the energy of their explosive live performances. "Our goal was to achieve a record that's better than our live show. We've always been told our recordings are shit and our live show is good. We're trying to up our game and make our songs sound good on record."
The band also share their memories of their own worst gig - a night at the Belushi Bar in Brighton playing to three people. "A girlfriend, a best friend and his mate from work," says Vincent. "The promoter was playing his Playstation whilst we were on and then when we finished he put an Iron Maiden DVD on and stood there with his mate, headbanging in front of it. I think his name was Preston - he didn't like us much, I don't think."
The band also believe that the public may have got it all wrong in what the band are actually like off stage. "I think people think we're actually horrible people and that we're misognists" says Vincent. "It's just quite annoying. We're down to earth nice people I'd like to think."
