"Now we're just thinking about another record," Vaccines frontman Justin Young tells Gigwise, hours before they stepped on stage as headliners at Latitude Festival 2015. "I think you always factor in what comes before to what comes after, definitely."

That may come as a surprise to many, as their massive third album English Graffiti just a couple of short months ago. But what else did you expect from The Vaccines - a band always on the up. And what could album No.4 sound like? Young's response is standard: "I don't think we're going to go backwards, put it that way."

"Definitely my perspective is that some people you lose, and some people you pick up along the way," Young admits to Gigwise. "I guess The Vaccines fulfilled a certain criteria that was short-sharp-fast pop-punk songs, and there's still some of that on the record, but I think maybe us challenging that and the confines of our sonic pallette means we tested a few people's patience. I don't know, I don't lose too much sleep over who we've left behind."

He continues: "I'm a Vaccines fan, I mean we all are. That's where it begins and ends really, and you hope that by pleasing yourself and by being personal, you're universal with them."

Call it what you will, just don't call it indie.

Justin adds: "I think that 'indie' has certain implications and connotations that we don't necessarily see as relevant to the sound of the band and the ambitions of the band."
