"I think we need to do better." Not words you'd expect to hear coming from a member of one of the most successful bands of the modern age - but Ronnie Vannucci, like his bandmate Brandon Flowers, is not about to rest on his laurels.

Flowers recently criticised his band's commitment, and ability to work together productively, saying, "There's definitely a drive that we're lacking. It takes a lot of work and that's fine, everybody's different, everybody's gonna have their own road that they go down."

He continued, "So sometimes it's frustrating with four different people and four different personalities in this band, we don't have that whole history that U2 have of these four young kids that knew each other and grew up in the same town."

Speaking to Gigwise, the band's drummer, Ronnie Vannucci, has responded to these comments. "I think we need to do better," he admitted. "It’s hard to say at this point whether we’re on the cusp of it but I wouldn’t be cool with the stuff we’ve done on our epitaph. I know I’d be an elderly man sitting in a chair thinking ‘We could have done so much more, so much better. We could have climbed so many other mountains. And I don’t want to have that feeling so I'm very interested to, I guess, climb more mountains."

As for whether, as Flowers also recently claimed, the band are 'underrated', Vannucci said, "It depends on who you ask. I don’t know where he was coming from at the time, I have certainly felt that way sometimes but it depends on what audience we’re talking about.

"I do think that we haven’t done what we should be doing yet, we’ve done a lot of great things but I don’t think we’ve reached a potential that I’m satisfied with yet."
