The band took Reading by storm when they played an awesome and epic surprise secret set on the BBC Radio One stage - but again, it has started tongues wagging about them stepping up to top the bill in future. Reading and Leeds boss Melvin Bennn once admitted that 'he'd rather Foals headline than The Rolling Stones'.
"We would love to headline Reading," Yannis Philippakis told Gigwise. "We grew up in this festival - the first big festival show we ever played was here. Every time we've come back it's grown and grown. We grew up watching Nirvana in '92. Reading, we hold dear."
He continued: "If we were asked to do it, we'd obviously be overjoyed - but at the same time, we're not holding our breath. If we do it, it needs to happen."
Guitarist Jimmy Smith added: "Next summer we'll be ready. We'd have been playing for a year, so we're as ready as you are, basically."
When asked what they think it takes to headline a festival, Yannis replied: "Just to be a good live band, and to have good songs. It's that simple I think. You don't need any pyro, you certainly don't need any backing track, you don't need any coiffured moves - you just need to play good songs with passion and energy. That's it."
