Just a week into their hiatus, One Direction's Liam Payne has unveiled his first solo song written for Irish boy band Home Town.
The track, called ‘The Night We Met’, comes with all the lyrical trimmings any tweenie could dream for - including, "I know when your heart's aching / It’s like you’re in glass breaking / and I just wanna look at you / the way I did on the night we met."
Payne tweeted the video for the single, revealing that he penned it together with co-writer Jamie Scott. The track was originally released in Ireland at the beginning of December, but is now available in the UK.

Despite the absence of band member Zayn Malik, Made in the AM, One Direction's fifth album was the fastest- selling album of the year selling 93,000 copies in its first week, before being superseded by Adele’s 25.
Earlier this week, Malik was labelled ‘rude’ by Simon Cowell after the singer described One Direction's music as ‘generic as f***’.
Cowell told The Mirror, “I think once he has had a chance to reflect on everything he will probably reconsider what he’s said because it was a very, very democratic process in the band. It is a bit rude to the people who wrote all the hits with them. And to the other band members. I mean they all wrote a lot of the stuff."
We’ll just have to wait and see if Malik retracts his statement, more likely than not when the hiatus comes to an end, and talks of an original band tour are on the table, but we're not holding our breath for that being any time soon.
