Last year saw Editors hit their career-high with the release of their crowning achievement, their glorious fifth album, In Dream. This year, they continue to ride that high - with a string of huge world festival dates as well as hitting the road with the mighty Manic Street Preachers. 

When it comes to Editors, more credit is due for the sheer breadth of the sonic territory their all-encompassing sound has covered over the years. With this in mind, we thought we'd put it to frontman Tom Smith to bend his ear around a variety of the biggest new tracks to be revealed over the last week, and give his honest opinion - from The Kills and Pete Doherty to Little Mix and Gerard Way.

The Kills - 'Heart Of A Dog'
"This is dull as fuck. Would it have hurt them to try to write a chorus?"

Blossoms - 'Getaway'
"I’ve not head this lot before. bit too wet for me I’m afraid."

Pete Doherty - 'The Whole World Is Our Playground'
"Wouldn’t give him a gig. Just beyond terrible. Unsigned bands across the country should feel insulted."

Laura Mvula - 'Phenomenal Woman'
"This is pretty wicked. Got me tapping along."

James Blake - 'Timeless'
"It’s about time someone ripped off Kosheen. I like it, for a bit, then I get bored. Better when stoned I’d say."

Little Mix - 'Hair' (feat Sean Paul)
"Needs more Sean Paul." 

Pleasure Beach - 'Magic Mountain'
"Is this a joke? The war on drugs should sue, but dire straits should sue them so…"

Anteros - 'Breakfast'
"They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Not today, it ain't. Not my cup of tea, funnily enough."

Gerard Way - 'Pinkish'
"Has this been recorded in a fridge? As a general rule I don’t like music with shouting in it, this doesn’t change my opinion."

We Are Scientists - 'Forgiveness'
"Feels tired. Not as tired as I feel after listening to these tunes though."

Olga Bell - 'ATA'
"'Am I dead?' she asks."
