More about: La Route Du Rock
If you’re disappointed by the shitty British weather, bland surroundings and sad lack of beaches when it comes to UK festivals, but you don’t want to travel halfway across the world and spend a fortune to find a decent alternative, may we present La Route du Rock.

Bringing the world’s best contemporary music to an ancient French fort, La Route du Rock has been a music-lover’s paradise since 1991, and they’ve got it down to a fine art.
There’s no fancy dress here, no falling over puking, and no sad mystery meat burgers, because this is a festival done French-style. Champagne is on tap, the food is great, and the surroundings are historic, atmospheric and stunning.
Belle and Sebastian, Savages, Tindersticks, Battles, Fat White Family, Sleaford Mods and even Lush are on the bill this year, spread over two alternating stages so there’s no clash-dash to worry about.
Spend the day wandering the walled paradise of St Malo, chilling on the beach or swimming in the sea, because the music at Route du Rock doesn’t start until 6pm, carrying on until the early hours.
A regular contingent of loyal Brits head for the festival every year, so make sure you’re one of the new ones. Hurry and grab one of the remaining tickets while you can.
