It's been a long three years since Boardmasters last took place where land and sea meet at Cornwall's Watergate Bay. Last year a pandemic put the festival out of action, and in 2019 high winds made it unviable.

It was a dangerous time for the surf and music event, which has been bringing music to the south coast since 2005 and surf competitions since 1981. But if 2020 was a year of cancellation then 2021 was one of resurrection, and Boardmasters returned at full capacity this weekend—to great relief from attendees, festival workers, and the live event industry as a whole.
