More about:

Before you hear them on the radio, telly, Hot New Bands; before they’ve got a manager or an agent; before you see them smashing the main stages, it's more than likely they'll have played or received early support from This Feeling.

In February, TF shared their annual big list of Ones to Watch in the world of indie music in 2022. Every week, you can meet a new artist that made it onto that list...

If you had to put your music in two genres, which would you choose?

We always describe our sound as ‘euphoric indie pop’ so I would say indie and pop, but lathered in euphoria.

What kind of stuff can you imagine your music being the soundtrack for?

Our biggest song ‘Coming of Age’ went viral on TikTok as it became a song people used to make videos pretending they were in a coming of age based movie. It gives off American high school vibes and a sense of nostalgia. I think a lot of our songs create this sense of nostalgia and make people reminisce about a past time.

Tell us an older artist and a brand new artist that inspires you.

We would all say different answers to this question but I personally would go for New Order as an older artist. The bass-driven melodies are insane, and they just write bloody good tunes. I really like the dancey feel a lot of their songs have, and the fact every album has a slightly different approach and style to it. In terms of a newer artist, we all like Sam Fender, especially how he is able to convey really poignant messages in songs which are absolute bangers.

What's the best part of playing live?

The best part about playing live is just feeling the energy of the crowd in response to the tunes, it’s an unreal feeling. Playing with your best mates is also such an incredible feeling and is something that we are all super grateful for that we get to do this for our job.

Tell us about your latest release.

We have a second EP in the works. Most of the songs have already been recorded with just a few more to go. These tracks have again been recorded at Coastal Sound in Liverpool and with producers Rich Turvey and Tom Roach. The environment and the working relationship between us and them was very strong for our first EP so we’ve decided to stick with them for this campaign. It has ended up being a little more guitar-driven then we had anticipated which isn’t a bad thing at all!

What have you got coming up?

We’ve got a few live dates in the works. Just waiting for confirmation so we can’t say too much yet. Right now the focus is cracking on with the second EP because we are desperate to release new music and see how fans respond to the direction we’re going in.

What other bands tipped by This Feeling this year do you like or looking forward to seeing?

We played a This Feeling showcase in Birmingham with a band called Candid last month. We’d never heard their music before but they sounded amazing live. Sometimes you watch a band where you know they’ve been smashing through gigs over a long period of time and you could definitely see that with these boys. And the songs are really great!
