More about:

Before you hear them on the radio, telly, Hot New Bands; before they’ve got a manager or an agent; before you see them smashing the main stages, it's more than likely they'll have played or received early support from This Feeling.

In February, TF shared their annual big list of Ones to Watch in the world of indie music in 2022. Every week, you can meet a new artist that made it onto that list...

If you had to put your music in two genres, which would you choose?

I’d probably say indie/alternative rock. More trying to go down the alternative route with a little more synth woven in here and there.

What kind of stuff can you imagine your music being the soundtrack for?

It’s always been a goal to have a FIFA song, much like pretty much every other indie band ever—but that would be cool. That or some sort of goals highlight for a big game. We recently had our latest single be used on an NFL game which was pretty surreal and made us realise there’s definitely an American vibe running through our music to a degree.

Tell us an older artist and a brand new artist that inspires you.

The Beatles were where it all began for me musically, although I wouldn’t say I’m inspired by them sonically. It's more the work ethic, innovation and overall approach to being a band. More recently a band called The Technicolors have been a huge inspiration to myself or the early Coldplay Parachutes era is also a huge guilty pleasure of mine.

What's the best part of playing live?

Creating the energy in the room is the best part of playing live, being able to bring people together, jumping up and down one minute and being in eachother's arms the next. It’s a real honour to guide someone’s emotions for an hour so...in the least psychopathic way possible.

Tell us about your latest release.

'Wasted Time' was a real turning point and I think more heads than ever were turned. Involving synth and focussing more on the groove and dance-ability was a real help too as it unlocked a whole new sound/aspect to Candid.

What have you got coming up?

We’re touring in April with This Feeling for the first time which were buzzed about. We'll be seeing Cardiff, London, Sheffield, Leeds and Nottingham. If you’re from there, I promise it’ll be worth the few quid to come see us!

What other bands tipped by This Feeling this year do you like or are looking forward to seeing?

Blondes were great at the Big in 2022 show we shared with them, a real polished sound & pure infectious hooks and melodies. Deffo check them out if you get the chance!
