Before you hear them on the radio, telly, Hot New Bands; before they’ve got a manager or an agent; before you see them smashing the main stages, it's more than likely they'll have played or received early support from This Feeling.

In February, TF shared their annual big list of Ones to Watch in the world of indie music in 2022. Every week, you can meet a new artist that made it onto that list...

If you had to put your music in two genres, which would you choose?

Probably alternative and indie.

What kind of stuff can you imagine your music being the soundtrack for?

I was lucky enough this year to get me song ‘Caroline’ into the American Netflix film Purple Hearts starring Sofia Carson. The scene is set at the bar, straight after she has finished performing on the stage.

Tell us an older artist and a brand new artist that inspires you.

Billie Holiday is one inspiration for her melodies and meaningfulness, and although he’s not completely brand new Son Little has an impact of my bluesy side of writing.

What's the best part of playing live?

Being able to make an impact, leaving people wanting to follow your journey and support your music. Seeing people singing back the songs you’ve written yourself is a magical experience - this happens now at every show with my latest single ‘You Belong To Me’ which is great because I wrote it with the intention of making this happen. Also, now playing with a band behind me makes the live side of music a lot more powerful and also enjoyable since I get to share the experience with some of my best mates.

Tell us about your latest release.

'You Belong To Me’ is my latest single following my debut EP Oxygen. It’s a simple song, a subtly produced live take which captures the rawness of the guitar and vocals. Being a song written about my love of music, my purpose was to create a song that gets people interacting with music itself, and due to its simplicity, it’sincredibly easy to sing along to.

What have you got coming up?

The next festivals I have are 110Above, Victorious (my hometown festival) and Live at Leeds, all of which I’m really looking forward to. I’ve been in the studio recording my next EP and I’m going back in again to record more, so you should expect to see a steady flow of releases, and I’ll be playing these at gigs around the UK.

What other bands tipped by This Feeling this year do you like or looking forward to seeing?

The Lock-In boys are a great bunch, very supportive of other artists. Love what Ace And The Oddity have got going with their unique sound, Fitzroy Holy I haven’t managed to catch yet but would love to, and Flowvers being from Portsmouth are branching out with their new sounds.
