Billy Bragg has discussed Taylor Swift's decision to remove her music from Spotify in a new interview with Gigwise, saying "If you believe passionately that music shouldn't be available for free, then you should be pulling it off of YouTube."

The singer performed at the XFM Winter Wonderland show last night (17 December) when he was also awarded the XFM Inspiration award. Speaking to Gigwise backstage, Bragg discussed Taylor Swift, U2's recent album giveaway, and The Smiths allowing their music to be used in adverts.
"For all music streaming services that are subscription," he said, "Their biggest competitor, their biggest problem, is the world's largest free streaming service - which is YouTube. If you believe passionately, as Taylor Swift appears to in her interviews, that music shouldn't be available for free, then you shouldn't just be pulling it off Spotify you should be pulling it off of YouTube. And I'm totally in favour of that."
He also discussed U2'S recent decision to release their latest album for free to every iTunes user: "Like me, U2 probably sell records to U2 fans. How do you get beyond that? If Apple come along and say, 'How much did you make from your last record? We'll pay you that, and a bit more and just send it to everyone' - of course you would do that."
